Take our adult driver ed course at our California driving school in Apple Valley. While driver education is not a requirement if you are over the age of 18, you may want to take a course anyway to help lower your car insurance costs.
Most insurance companies offer discounts for drivers who have taken an education course. Taking driver's ed can also help you become a safer, more prudent driver. State-approved driver's ed courses consist of 25 classroom hours and six hours of driver training.
If you are over 18 years old and have never had a driver's license, you do not need to take driver education but are still required to get an instruction permit before you get a driver's license. Even if you're over 18, you cannot drive alone with only an instruction permit. Until you have your regular license, you must have a parent, guardian, spouse, or driver over 25 years old with an unrestricted license in the car when you drive.
Once you have held your instruction permit for six months, you can take the driving test to get your driver's license.
